The Atlanta

COMMUNITY CROCHET GARDEN

Where everyday trash becomes beautiful art.

This project came about in 2020, as a proposal for Fulton County Arts & Cultural Virtual Programming Grant. The idea was to engage community volunteers to come together, make and install some larger-than-life plant and flower sculptures around the city. The pieces were crocheted out of PLARN which is yarn made from plastic grocery bags. It was all about sustainability, turning our trash into works of art, and creating connection at a time when we couldn't safely come together face-to-face.

While this project has closed, you can still access this content on how to make PLARN, basic crochet stitches, and crocheting flowers.
